Chery iCAR 03T was officially unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show, and the new car can be seen as an enhanced version of the iCar 03. The Chery iCar series models have a low overall shape and are an electric vehicle that focuses on rugged appearance. Following the launch of the iCar 03, the first mass-produced model, in early 2024, Chery’s brands have launched models such as the V23 off-road vehicle, X25 and 03T.

The iCar 03T debuted at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show, with several upgrades to enhance its off-road capabilities from the regular 03. Highlights of the exterior are the wide fender extensions, additional air intakes next to the LED headlights, larger and wider alloy rims, and redesigned bumpers to improve off-road performance overall.

The iCar 03T is slightly larger than the 03, measuring 4,432 mm long, 1,916 mm wide, 1,741 mm high, with an increased ground clearance of 200 mm and the same wheelbase of 2,715 mm as the iCar 03. The base and powertrain options have been retained, meaning that the 03T will be offered with rear-wheel drive with a single motor with a maximum output of 181 horsepower, or a dual-motor four-wheel drive system with a total output of 279 horsepower.

The second model at the Beijing Motor Show was the iCar X25, which features an unconventional design that combines futuristic design proportions, a raised stance, and a sturdy bumper in an off-road vehicle. The exterior looks like a space exploration vehicle, making it hard to believe that this electric car will ever be mass-produced.

The ultra-short front overhang and generous ground clearance hint at strong off-road capability, especially when combined with an all-wheel drive powertrain and suitable tires. At the same time, the long wheelbase, high body and flat floor of the electric architecture guarantee a spacious interior and a “flexible seat combination”, making the X25 ideal for camper modifications. The powertrain and specific equipment have not yet been announced, but officials say that it will provide “excellent handling and stability”.

The third model unveiled at the show was the iCar V23. The car combines the design features of popular off-road vehicles in a fairly successful way, including the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, Land Rover Defender, and the classic Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40. The iCar V23 has a green light shade and black steel rims, and is equipped with grippy tires. The 4,220 mm long EV will be available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions, with a CATL-produced battery pack for a range of up to 500 km and Level 2+ ADAS functionality.

Chery’s iCar model hopes to appeal to more young consumers, and plans to launch eight new models by 2026, dividing its product line into three different groups. The 0 series focuses on “exquisite technology”, the V series focuses on off-road style, and the X series focuses on single-box minivans.
